Focus and Scope

Libellarium, journal for the research of writing, books and cultural heritage institutions is an open-access peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the University of Zadar, Department of Information Sciences and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, Department of Information Sciences.

The main aim of Libellarium is promotion of the research of the written word, books and heritage institutions. The editorial board therefore invites research papers that will throw more light on both historic and current issues, as well as papers that will promote research in line with the prevailing and the most current research paradigms.


Libellarium is published twice a year. Editors accept articles in English or Croatian. Other languages (particularly Italian, French, German) may be accepted in exceptional cases.

Libellarium does not charge any fees to authors to submit or publish articles in our journal.

Early View

Articles which have been fully copy-edited and peer-reviewed are published online in Early View before the final online issue of the journal is published. The result is faster publication of the latest research.

Early View articles are fully peer reviewed, edited and complete – they only lack page numbers, volume/issue details and UDC number – and are considered fully published from the date they first appear online. This date is shown within the published article online.

Peer Review Process

The papers are subject to scientific categorization and the evaluation of two reviewers.

 

Publication Frequency

Libellarium is published twice a year, in June and December.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Articles are distributed under the terms of the Commons Attribution License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

About the University of Zadar

Zadar is the oldest Croatian university town. In the year 1396 the University of Zadar was founded and was active till the year of 1807. Until the year of 1955, when Faculty of Philosophy was founded, the tradition of university education was preserved in a number of faculties and monastic studies with a high reputation in Croatia, but also in the international community.

The year 1996, in which the 600th anniversary of the first university on the territory of Croatia was celebrated, gave a strong impetus to the idea of establishing or renewing the University of Zadar. This led to the legal act which constituted the University of Zadar in July 2002 which was passed by the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia and to the registration of the University on 29 January 2003.

The University of Zadar is nowdays a well-established, entirely integrated university with a long tradition of academic excellence. It consists of 21 departments and offers a wide range of programs at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels.

With its rich libraries and archives, University of Zadar offers an exceptional learning environment to its students.

The mission of the University is to contribute to society as a provider of high quality teaching and excellence in research.

The publishing activities were initated at the University to further the University's objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education. It started at the year of 1958. with a monography Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar 1956./1957.  and continued with a number of special and occasional editions, and edition issued in cooperation with other publishers.

As the University of Zadar was renewed in the year of 2004., publishing activities has been stimulated. Several books, handbooks and university scripts have been published. At the same time, a number of  papers wrote by teachers, teaching assistants and lectors have been published in Croatian and international scientific journals.

The University of Zadar is publishing several scientific journals: Geoadria, Acta Jadertina, Croatica et Slavica Iadertina, Magistra Iadertina, Libellarium. collections of papers from scientific conferences, University annuals etc.

The University controls the policy of publishing through a group of Delegates appointed from the academic staff of the University. The Delegates meet under the chairmanship of the Vice-Rector for Inter-institutional cooperation, International relations, Library and Publishing They are actively involved in the publishing programme: all books are referred to them for approval. The main criteria in evaluating a new title are its quality and the contribution it makes to the furtherance of scholarship and education.

 

About the Faculty of humanities and social sciences in Osijek

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek is an active stakeholder in higher education and research in the field of humanities and social sciences in Croatia. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences educates students to meet measurable learning standards and acquire distinct knowledge, professional competencies and skills. The Faculty teachers have a reputation of academic excellence at the national and international level and a high level of professional and teaching competencies, which are reflected in fostering modern student-oriented teaching.
